The latest in our AI. After Intelligence series brought Financial Times columnist Sarah O'Connor to Space House.

Sarah was talking about her new book, We Are Not Machines: The Fight for the Future of Work. She spent years reporting on labour from warehouse floors to Swedish mines, and her book argues the real risk of AI isn't job losses, but "robotising ourselves," hollowing out the judgment and creativity work used to require.

Hosting the conversation was Professor Cosmina Dorobantu, Co-Director of LSE's Data Science Institute and co-founder of the Alan Turing Institute's Public Policy Programme, whose research has shaped AI policy from the Online Safety Act to the Bank of England's AI Forum. Two people who've spent their careers watching technology reshape work, talking it through together.

It was a fascinating discussion and a reminder that what AI does to work isn't a foregone conclusion but a fight.
